Front - Planter Area
After looking at planter boxes, we really like a larger tree in the corner of the planter box. We would like to incorporate a bench if possible. I thought the stepping stones added a nice touch too.
Front - Front of House - East Side
We like the variety of plants in this landscape.
We like the little path they did to the front gate.
Back - Over All
This is our neighbors back yard. We love this backyard and the overall feel of it. Not sure what gives it the feel other than lots of tree/bushes/green.
Back - Patio
This is the type of pergola we were thinking of to go over our patio to give us shade. It is made out of vinyl.

This was my thought in covering the pergola with grapevines.
We mentioned trying to do something to block the patio area from the sun. This is a thought ... building something like this on the west side and having the grapes grow up it. My worry is that it may feel enclosed or blocked. Or we could also do a tree.
We are trying to decide if we want to build a deck over the existing cement or replace the cement. We have had water trouble in our basement and are highly considering laying a new patio down (and fixing the water problem while we are at it). If we go with laying a new patio what shape would you suggest? If we do the back fence squiggly then would we want to keep the patio square? Or vice versa.

We are concerned about our neighbors in the back of us. They are super gardeners and garden along the fence that separates our homes. We do not want to block the sun from their garden. I saw this fence line and it gives me hope that we could still plant stuff along the back fence without blocking their garden. As long as the trees don't get too bushy over the fence.

Back - Garden
These are the garden boxes we built. We would like to put some stepping stones in between them and then have some ground cover to grow in between the stones like the pictures below. Our friends used wooly thyme that worked well.
Back - Misc
We want to soften the corners of our home in the back. Would this tall bush work on the west corner?
General Ideas/Plants we Like
These trees look tall and not bushy - would they work along the back fence line?
We like the look of this edging. I'm not a huge fan of the cement curbing around. Someone once recommended a aluminum/ metal divider.
